about the artist

Casey Starks is a 4th generation Californian, licensed Landscape Architect, and artist living in Monterey, California. Casey has a passion for craft and has dabbled in everything from screenprinting to fiber arts.

Today she spends her days designing outdoor spaces and making pottery. She is most inspired by the natural beauty of the California landscape, architecture, and her favorite period in design: the 1960’s. Casey loves to blend natural themes with architectural structure in her work. She is always experimenting with new built forms and decoration techniques.

techniques

All of Casey’s pottery work is hand built; created without the use of a potter’s wheel. Most of her items are made with flat pieces of clay called slabs, carefully formed into shapes, and then refined to get the finished product. She also employs the coil building technique.
